Not advisable: This won't necessarily speed healing and can increase the risk of a secondary infection. Valacyclovir can speed healing. Your doctor or an urgent care clinic should be able to give you a prescription and you take 2gm twice a day for 1 day. The amino acid L-lysine has also been shown to help prevent outbreaks. Hope this helps.
