A Bump In The Night?: Usually means it's fighting an infection or inflammation, from the throat or other areas on that side.If you don't think you have any of that, then maybe it's just a reaction to something deeper.It may go away.But if it doesn't, or gets bigger then get it checked out, especially if you've smoked for a long time and it's still there in 2 weeks. Until then, don't fool with it too much.

Possible infection: often the glands around your face and/or neck become inflamed(painful) and enlarged when you have some sort of infection ... a sort of "reaction" to the inflammatory response of your body to an infection.
