A member asked:

Does the length of fasting affect fasting glucose levels?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fasting Glucose: There are variations based on length of fasting but basically the test is checking if you have normal regulation of your blood sugar - checks if it is too high while fasting (i.e. diabetes) or too low (i.e. hypoglycemia) or if it is within normal limits. Too short of a fasting time may reflect the food still being absorbed from the stomach/gut. If longer than recommended, not likely to matter.
