friend diagnosed with apl leukemkia at 54 years old.went into remission for a year and now it's back.needs transplant. i thought apl didn't recur?

It can recur: APL is largely curable but not 100%. Some cases(10+ percent ) do relapse and can be difficult to control. Make sure that patient is next treated at a cancer Center where there is an expert who treats APL. There are some wonderful drugs like Arsenic Oxide which I hope he can receive unless already used in his first treatment schedule.
