Hives?: Hives come and go but bites don't. Hives can be "all over" but bites, usually not. You may have a virus or an allergy to something. Having a doctor look at the spots is the best way to know.

Probably not: insect bites will remain several days and gradually fade (although they will swell if scratched ) Urticaria (hives ) are more likely to come and go, then appear elsewhere. this is usually due to something ingested .
