Depends: Ovulation can occur as soon as 7 days after a period starts. So if the period lasts 7 days, then ovulation could occur at the end of the period. In that case the cycle length would be 21 days because the period always starts 14 days after ovulation. The average cycle is 28 to 30 days which means ovulation happens on cycle day 14 to 16. The first day of the period is the first day of the new cycle
