Studies of siblings: of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder have led to diagnosis & treatment by 12 mos. A baby who does NOT raise arms to be picked up at 6-9 mos., consistently turn to name at 9 mos., wave "bye" responsively & play Pat-a-Cake & Peek-a-boo at 9-10 mos., or point with index finger for desired objects at 12 mos. needs a multidisciplinary evaluation by your state's Early Intervention Program.
