81 mg aspirin: Aspirin, 81 mg, per day in people over 80 yo has not been scientifically proven to be of benefit. Logic says it may indeed benefit the over 80 yo person, and hazard is small. Bleeding risk is heightened some. Stomach ulcer risk may be slightly heightened too. Gastric mucosal atrophy is an occasional concern in octogenarians.

Yes: A baby aspirin 81 mg is appropriate to take to prevent strokes. DO not take if on blood thinners already without first talking to you provider. Also if history of stomach ulcers do not take but all should take the 81mg aspirin
