Get it checked: Red bumps can be normal tongue structures, but are worth having checked at either the family doctor or dentist. Some oral cancers can start on the tongue. These can be related to smoking, smokeless tobacco or HPV (Human Papilloma Virus), which is widespread, transmitted via kissing and sex, and can lead to oral cancers. Have the bumps checked, bottom line.

Could be normal but.: This can be a normal issue with the tongue- may be caused by spicy foods, drinks, meds... But if in doubt, I would see a dentist now while the spots are present
