What could cause painful, swollen occipital lymph node?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Check the hair: Swollen lymph nodes can result from diseases of the back half of the head & scalp. An infection or a skin cancer could be the culprit. Get to a general surgeon, ENT or dermatologist for a thorough evaluation.
