A member asked:

Oxycodone, hydrocodone and morphine cause hives. will levorphanol do that as well?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

More than likely: yes. All opioids have the potential to release histamine from mast cells, which is what causes hives. The ones that do it most are morphine, codeine and hydrocodone, and the ones that do it the least are oxycodone, heroin and fentanyl. Levorphanol is metabolized into morphine and codeine, and if you have had problems before with these meds, very likely you will with levorphanol.
