A member asked:

Are all growth factors cytokines, but not all cytokines are growth factors, kind of like a rectangle isn't necessarily a square?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Hi. Cytokines are generally factors secreted by cells of the immune system. Growth factors are often classic hormones (e.g., insulin, growth hormone, IGF-1, TSH, ACTH, testosterone, etc). Definitely true not all cytokines are growth factors. Ain't biological signaling a trip?! I hope you're doing well with your panhypopit. Peace & good luck!
