Lymph node: It is probably a lymph node. If it is truly an inch in diameter and not tender then I would have your doctor take a look at it to see if it requires a biopsy or if it's just a "reactive" lymph nodes. Reactive nodes are ones that swell up in reaction to infection and they are normal.
