Hypothyroidism: TSH of 9.84 is rather high, which happens when the thyroid gland is under active. Assuming the patient has some symptoms consistent with hypothyroidism, such as fatigue, dry skin, weight gain, then starting Synthroid (thyroxine) should be helpful. Starting with a low dose such as 25 mg, and adjusting it based on lab and symptoms is better tolerated than starting with a higher dose.
