Folds of the bowels: Your body has about 20 feet of small intestine (small bowel) and 5 feet of large intestine (large bowel). The intestines are folded and form loops to fit into the abdomen. Large bowel loop refers to the folds of the large intestine and small bowel loops refers to the folds of small intestine. This reference is usually made during xray or CT imaging done.

Intestine: The intestine is arranged in form of loops from the stomach to the anus and are divided into 2 sections namely the small and large bowels each with different functions and internal structure and sizes but can usually only be differentiated when the bowel is abnormally distended
