South America Travel: I would not recommend taking any antibiotic prophylactically. However, if you can, it would be helpful if you had your doctor give you prescriptions for ciprofloxacin and metronidazole and get them filled to take with you. These two antibiotics should take care of any intestinal problems you might pick up. Have a safe trip.
