A member asked:

I have a painful, hard lump in my butt. what is it? you can't see it on the surface and the area is a bit red, hasn't grown in size, hurts to touch.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Abscess: This sounds like an abscess. Bacteria get into clogged sebaceous glands or into the subcutaneous tissue and cause a pocket of pus to form. These pockets of pus usually need to be drained in order to heal. I would recommend having a physician examine the lesion, and advise you on treatment.
