No Calan Cardiazem (diltiazem): Cardiazem(diltiazem) along with verapamil can increase Tegretol levels by as much as 50 %. Any other CCB other than those two is preferable. So diltiazem and verapamil can decrease carbamazepine(tegretol) metabolism by the liver. On the other hand, Tegretol is an inducer of hepatic metabolism and can increase the rate of CCB clearance. http://dpic.org/sites/default/files/pdf/DIR_CCBs.pdf
