How long does it take for an increase in the dose of carbamazepine for epilepsy to show if it will be effective?

Depends on levels: Carbamazepine works best when blood levels are in a therapy range, but if you are already "therapeutic", may need a second medication added on.

Answer varies: Sometimes a dose increase is effective immediately, other times, it may require 1-2 weeks for the benefit to be noticeable. The response varies from person to person, and there is no great way to predict it.
