How is the diagnosis of liver cancer?

Imaging or biopsy: Hepatocellular carcinoma (or hcc) can be diagnosed with imaging studies such as ultrasound, CT scan, mri, and angiography. Usually two studies are needed to confirm the diagnosis. In some cases a liver biopsy is needed. An Alpha fetoprotein blood test can assist with the diagnosis but by itself is not helpful.
