More info: If no drainage, may use warm water on a sterile cotton ball and wipe down. Do this several times a day using a new cotton ball each time. If symptoms persist, please see your physician or an ophthalmologist.

Possibilities: The most common cause is a sty (hordeolum); and infection of a meibomian gland in the lid . Treatment is warm compresses and topical antibiotics. Rarely incision and drainage is needed. Mils dicomfort may indicate a continued infection. Have it evaluated
