Which antibody?: A positive antibody for mono can refer to prior infection. The measurement in this circumstance refers to protective antibody, which is desirable. This antibody is IgG (immunoglobulin G). If the measurement involves IgM, then recent infection is likely. Determine which of several antibodies your doctor measured. To determine likelihood of active or very recent infection, find the IgM result.
