Ligamentous laxity?: you may be describing knee hyper-extension, meaning the knees are going beyond straight. Perhaps you have loose ligaments, and are very flexible in other joints? like thumb, wrist, or elbow? people have different levels of laxity, but if it causes you pain or instability, recommend you be evaluated by an orthopedist. muscle strengthening can often help stabilize joints.
