Vitamin D deficiency: Secondary hyperparathyroidism i( normal calcium and high PTH) s due to vitamin D deficiency, abnormal kidney function, kidney loss of calcium. It is also possible to result from early primary hyperparathyroidism from a single tumor or multiple enlarged parathyroid glands.
