Don't speculate: Take her to see her Family Doc or Geriatrician for complete evaluation. There's a lot of left side eg face, arm, chest, abdomen, flank, leg, etc. So causes range from skin infection to pneumonia to zoster/shingles to kidney stones to pinched nerve to diverticulitis to kidney infection etc. As you can see, rather than speculation, she needs medical evaluation.
