Blood thinners: for transient ischemic attack (TIA) are not really blood thinners in most cases. Occasionally one make too many red blood cells (polycythemia or erythrocytosis ) and the treatment is removal of some blood by vein periodically. Most often the issue is either a tendency to make blood clots in the heart or within the arteries in the brain or neck. Agents like coumadin, (warfarin) aspirin or Plavix are given.

Is this confirmed: Sounds like bizarre comment to me, unless you have a hyper-coagulation syndrome, high serum viscosity, or highly elevated hematocrit. Maybe get second opinion.
