A member asked:

What percent, is a negative hiv test result. at 6 weeks? do i most likely not have it then. and what are the odds of contracting it one time exposure

A doctor has provided 1 answer

HIV nucleic acid: test. A negative antibody test at 6 weeks does not exclude HIV infection. A negative HIV nucleic acid test would. The odds of getting the infection depends on the type of exposure and the viral load in the fluid to which you were exposed.
