A member asked:

My medical records for a recent failed ileostomy reversal surgery, indicates that cocaine was used. what would be the reason for that? legal? common?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Legal when Doc uses: Let me clarify the SUMMARY answer. There are MEDICAL uses for cocaine when doctors use it on their patients. No single drug combines the anesthetic and vessel clamping properties of this drug. It is highly addictive to be sure...but again, when used therapeutically should not be a problem. I don't know how it is brought into play in ileostomy reversal...we'll see if a surgeon has an answer.
