Persistent pain: It could be an infection, exposed bone, alveolitis or from an adjacent tooth just to mention the more likely possibilities. You need to see the dentist who removed the tooth for a follow up evaluation. We can't diagnose or treat the problem over the internet.

Contact your dentist: If you develop new or worsening pain in the days after your tooth extraction, don't try to tough it out. Contact your dentist or oral surgeon for post-op evaluation and x-ray.
