By all means: Sudden significant hair loss can indicate severe emotional stress or an underlying medical illness. Do see you doctor soon. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!

Resting phase: Approximately 10% of hair follicles are in the 'resting phase' during which time the fall out to make room for new growth. Up to 100 hairs lost per day can be considered as normal. Infection, stress, nutritional deficiencies, certain diseases and hormone fluctuations can cause excessive hair loss.
