Arthritis: When you say 'middle" I assume you mean the joint where the thumb bends. You could have arthritis in the IP joint, or inflammation of the tendon sheaths. A visit to your primary care could determine the need for referral to a hand surgeon. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!
