Neuropathy: This is classic for a neurological problem with the thumb. You need to have it checked out by a doctor. Anything beyond that statement would be conjecture. Call your MD today. If you develop any new neurological symptoms elsewhere like weakness, vision issues, speech impairment or disorientation it's time for 911 and an emergency evaluation. Is this your dominant hand? That makes this more urgent
