Bruise healing: Bruises result from trauma to small blood vessels under the skin. When they rupture, blood leaks out into the surrounding tissue, leaving a painful (usually) red mark. As the blood ages and the body resorbs the leak, bruises change color (red, to purple, brown and yellow/green). Bruises will disappear on your body's timeline.
