They are looking at: your retina, back of your eye to make sure you don't have retinal/macular tears/posterior vitreal detachment, in which the first sign can be a veil of floaters. When you're sleeping the floaters always go to the lowest spot, and when you sit up and awaken, they should float out of your visual axis (your view). So, if 2 eye doctors have cleared you, especially an ophthalmologist, you should be safe
