A member asked:

Hi. sometimes i end up taking a nap for 2-3 hours in the day or evening, and then i go to sleep for 7 hours. is this in anyway dangerous?

Sleep: No. This pattern indicates some sleepiness - perhaps from meds, perhaps from stress and exhaustion, perhaps from depression. Not dangerous. Talk it over with your doc. Get some exercise every day. Eat well. Think positive thoughts.

Naptime/sleeptime: No -- although you may find falling asleep after an evening nap harder to do. Sleep is NOT like a bank account - you can't bank time or reduce your balance to zero. Your body needs a certain amount of daily rest. Naps are ok for brief recharges but should NOT replace daily sleep. If you are excessively fatigued despite 7 hours and 2-3 hours of naps you should be checked out by your doc
