A member asked:

Why does my acid reflux seem to get worse when i have a cold? do any common cold medicines reduce the effects of omeprazole?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Meds, post nasal drip: When sick w an upper respiratory tract infection, post nasal drip can be irritating to the throat, esophagus&stomach. Many common cold meds contain NSAIDS(anti-inflammatories)eg.ibuprofen or naproxen,, which can irritate the esophagus.Spending more time in bed does not help acid reflux, either.Gaviscon(or"compare with Gaviscon"generic)after meals& at bedtime can boost protective effect of omeprazole
