Psychotherapy?: Some types of depression or tension are related to life circumstances. The only way to really eliminate them is by changing things in your life. Pills can reduce or change your physical/chemical reactivity, but won't get you a better job or out of abusive relationships, etc. For this you need supportive coaching in making changes and skills to handle the emotional pain. CBT is very good for this!

Need an adjustment: Depression not responding to an antidepressant may respond if the dose is increased or if another anti-depressant medication is added to the first one. It's not unusual for patients to be on two medications for depression. Anti-depressant medication works best in conduction with psychotherapy to lift depression.
