Back to the Dr.: A particularly severe respiratory infection can be difficult to clear. The symptoms can persist long after the antibiotics are gone. It's also possible that the antibiotics weren't effective for the bug you had, or most likely, it was viral and antibiotics would be of no use. Your breathlessness is concerning. You may have wheezing or some reactive airway disease that requires treatment.

Cough: You have not shared anything about yourself, not even your age let alone medical history to offer you a relevant response; however, you may have a reactive airway disorder due to inhalational allergy. Try an antihistamine and you may need an inhaled bronchodilator or steroid to improve your breathing.
