Who prescribed?: Did a doctor prescribe the antibiotic? If not, you need to see an ENT specialist to determine the cause of your hearing problem as it may not be an infection.

May not be needed: Amoxicillin shouldn't be used unless ear infection has been diagnosed. Other conditions such as ear wax impaction, non-infected fluid in ears or hearing damage can cause muffled hearing. Best to get checked by a physician before using antibiotics. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!
