Several actually: the other symptoms you note including weakness, pain shooting down the leg and back pain can occur with a bulging disc. In addition, one may see muscle spasm or imbalance. Therefore core strengthening as you probably did in PT should be continued in an ongoing exercise program. This could include swimming, elliptical, restorative yoga, tai chi, bicycling or pilates.
