How is an endoscopy ultrasound (of the pancreas) any different, if at all, than a standard screening endoscopy of the stomach area? same machine?

Very similar: The difference is that EUS-ultrasound endoscopy- has at the end of it an US probe which can visualize organs beyond the surface. Otherwise the machines are very similar. I hope this help.

Different: Endoscopy looks at lining of organs-esophagus, stomach, duodenum, no view of pamcreas. EUS does internal sono sound wave picture of pancreas- no xrays. Regular sono does not get good look at pancreas
