Difficult to say: Except for a few documented genetic disorders which cause joint degenerative disease, the answer is difficult determine. There may be some hereditary component to joint pain and degenerative changes, but this is difficult to quantify. It is not very important if you mom's genes cause you problems. Your knee pain is more important, and you should have a complete evaluation from a specialist.
