Can be due to GERD: A patient with Gastroesophageal Reflux can have a dull ache in the chest due to Esophagitis(inflammation of the esophagus). Some patients will experience Esophagitis as "heart burn". Others may experience a "pain", sometimes severe, in the mid chest. It is important to consult with a physician if experiencing chest pain to be certain it is not due to a heart artery blockage, which is serious.
