Antiinflammatory: Prednisone suppresses inflammation and thus it is intended to control the inflammation resulting from many diseases including lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. It is not a cure or specific for any disease , just a temporary solution. Long term high-dose prednisone can lead to many serious side effects.
