Varies: Dpends on condiotn, severity, and other options. If you need to be on high dose steroids for more than a few weeks, steroid sparing drugs such as mathotrexate, cellcept, (mycophenolate mofetil) Plaquenil can be added to decrease steroid effects. Discuss with your doctor.

It all depends: It all depends on the type of steroids you are taking and for what condition. However, the most important element of steroid use is the time. The longer you take any steroid the more hazardous it becomes for your health.
