See a dentist: You really need to have a comprehensive exam by a dentist so all the information can be collected, radiographs (x-rays) taken and evaluated, then a diagnosis and treatment plan can be discussed. Jaw pain can come from many different areas and different stimuli. Receding gums can cause pain, but there are many other situations that can cause pain.

Not likely: Even though there are many causes of jaw pain, but receding gums is not one of them. See your dentist for evaluation,x-rays and treatment.
