What percent of brain we need to live?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Technology: Patients can be clinically fully brain dead, but can be kept alive using a respirator, if cardiac function stays intact. Crucial area is brainstem, and as long as a few portions remain stable, life can go on with machine support. However, life may be meaningless at that point, and often respirator is turned off.
