Physical therapy.: If it is only a sprain, usually physical therapy will help reduce pain, improve range of motion , strength and function.

Rest and Elevation: The most important principles are to rest the shoulder joint and keep it elevated in a sling for the first 24-72 hrs. Oral anti inflammatory tabs may help reduce the inflammation as well. If there is ongoing pain after a week, then it is ideal to see your Doctor who may organise an Ultrasound scan to rule out damage to the rotator cuff tendons. At this stage physiotherapy may be helpful as well.
