Unnecessary: It wont harm the baby, but it's unnecessary. You want to give your baby her best nutrition which is breast milk or formula. She needs the fat, carbohydrates and protein for her little brain and body to grow.

Pedialyte: Pedialyte is not dangerous to give to a well infant but it is not meant to take the place of formula, 1-2 oz a day may help with hydration particularly in warm weather.
