Hard to say?: If she is passing hard stools that are painful to pass with a tummy that is swollen, then she may need a suppository. If her tummy is flat and she's passing infrequent stools that are soft then this is probably a normal pattern. I would wait a day or two and see how it goes. There are lots of interventions to make babies stool, but much of the time they are unnecessary.

Infant stooling: Babies should try to pass stool on their own as much as possible. This is an exercise for their bowel. If they are growing well an extra oz of water is often helpful. Using a rectal thermometer with vasoline to stimulate their bottom is often helpful if they are in severe pain. Did your baby pass stool in the 1st 24 hours of life? This would be important to discuss with your doctor. All the best.
